Information
At Lema, our rose oil is extracted through a steam distillation process from the petals of Rosa Damascena. Rose oil is used in the perfumery, aromatherapy, cosmetics, and medicine. Rose oil has been shown to hydrate skin, reduce inflammation, clear scars, slow aging, and decrease eczema and acne. When used in aromatherapy, rose oil can help decrease stress, anxiety, and depression, and alleviate migraines. In recent studies, rose oil has been shown to decrease the stress hormone cortisol in the body and has been linked to improving sleep. In addition to aromatherapy, rose oil can be added to creams, and baths, or put directly on the skin. The oil-bearing rose, Rosa Damascena, is greatly rooted in Bulgarian history and tradition. Production of rose oil in Bulgaria began in the 16th century. Since then, Bulgaria has become the leader in rose oil production across the world. Rosa Damascena has since become a symbol of Bulgaria.
When used in aromatherapy the rose oil slows skin aging, maintains a healthy nervous system, and strengthens the mind (rose oil gives strength for life).
Rose oil can also help alleviate headaches.
